Hi Willow,
If you are new to meditation, start with 5 minutes a day and build it up. It is very hard to still the mind, but practice makes perfect. You will soon find if you make some time regularly each day for yourself to calm the mind, it will become a habit. And as the habit grows, so too will the time you spend doing it.
As to the second question, try and look past the thoughts that have been created for you to feel this way. Like an onion, peel away the layers and start from the inside. Look at the person in a different light by seeing inside they are human, they have blood in their veins, they have a soul like other fellow creatures. You may not like the actions or habits of that person, but their actions are their responsibility. Your responsibility is to find peace within you. You are responsible for your actions, your thoughts, your feelings in the end. Someone may do something you may not like, but it is up to you how you handle your response. Try to look at everything in this light and build your strength in overcoming the emotions that make us upset. Take the time to stop, think and then choose to react. Try to create a more peaceful outlook by saying to yourself, 'I do not like your behaviours or actions, but I respect you as a fell human being'. See past the person and their actions and behaviours and see them in a different light of soul consciousness. Again, this takes time to practice but it will create a sense of inner peace, control and greater understanding of you.

Glad you like it. The important issue is not how long or how often you sit, but the depth of feeling you can generate and maintain.
Over time it becomes easier to try and feel unconditional love for all life but it is hard at times. Keep at it!
